Mistake

Can you find the mistake?  I had the privilege of trying this new pinwheel pattern at Country Manor on Monday. You sew all of your blocks together then you use this ruler tool and cut them all apart.  You have to stack them just perfect to get the pin wheel.  Needless to say I turned one of my blocks so have to take that section apart and redo.  But.....I got the concept and am ready to do one for real now.

Halloween

I just cut out my quilt for Halloween.  This is a strip club quilt and we had homework for.  So....all my strips are sewn together and cut into the proper sizes.  Now....hopefully I can get it completed for Halloween this year and now next year.

Mini Sewing Tote

I was trying this pattern out for this mini sewing tote.  I wanted something easy to carry back and forth to classes without needing to take my huge sewing tote (that weighs a ton)

It is only about 6 x 6 in size.  It holds a ton of things.  I was really surprised ow much it holds.  The little zipper on the front of this side opens up to secure storage.  I have cutting blades in this side in their plastic holder.   

All the ladies in my sewing group liked this so when we go to retreat in October guess what we will all be making?  Yep, mini sewing totes.

Now.....all you ladies that quilt your own pieces I need your help.  I have never quilted a panel before and really struggled with this.  I quilted around all the main parts and here and there.  I have not done anything else to it yet.  The batting I used was really fluffy and I had never used it before.  Now my question is....

How do I block it to make it lay a bit flatter.  I have not bound it yet and will do that first.  I want the end to lay flat and not curl as they look like they are doing now.  HELP!

Love those Comfort quilts

I have been working on Comfort Quilts for our Hanford Guild.  Ladies in our guild piece tops then turn them in and usually it is Mary Ann Loya that sandwiches them.  They then come to me to be quilted.  I wish I knew who make some of the tops so they could get credit but......On this top the little flowers are appliqued on.  Aren't they too cute!

This next quilt was little flag blogs I won at the Orange Blossom Guild for the block of the month.  I put them all together then added borders for a cute red, white and blue quilt. 

This baby quilt is too darn cute for words.  Whoever made this top did a great job.  All the little animals are a white fluffy soft material and are appliqued on.  I love this little quilt and wish I had a little boy to share it with.  Thanks to whoever turned it in.

Another Block of the month quilt.  I had enough blocks to make a second top.  I had to scrounge for material to make the borders.  It turned out really cute and bright.  This should cheer up someones day.



This quilt was another top turned in.  The yellow and white flowers are daisy's and really bright.  The photo does not do it justice.  Really a nice quit. 

I hope you enjoy seeing all the different quilts as much as I enjoy showing them to you.  This little bit of quilting makes me feel that I am able to give something back to my community.  Believe me over the years I have had many wonderful people help me.

STONEHENGE AT THIMBLE TOWNE

Today was Stonehenge day at Thimble Towne. I signed up for this lecture quite some time ago. When I found out the representative for Stonehenge (Northcott fabrics) was coming I could not resist.


When I first saw Stonehenge fabrics in a quilting magazine (can't remember which one now). I asked Jeremy if he was going to carry that line. He said it was already ordered. Was I ever excited to even do a strip club quilt out of it. It has become one of my top favorite fabrics. If you have not felt it you need to. It is so silky (for a cotton).


O.K. I will shut up and get back to the day.


As we came through the door we were checked off the list, given a goodie bag with an embroidered name tag done on Stonehenge fabric for all of us to wear. We were then ushered to an area to have our photos taken. This photo on the left was a whole wall done in the labels of Stonehenge and Thimble Towne. We stood in front of this wall to have our photos taken.



This is VIC. He was our Guest Speaker for the day. What a fun person. We learned lots about the fabric and that it is made in Korea. They run 3000 yards of just one fabric at a time. That is 200 bolts. That is of each fabric. So......Stonehenge has over 110 different bolts. You do the math. I don't have that many fingers and toes to count it.


Everyone that attended had a fat quarter in their bags, plus another on their chair with a ticket. (Each ticket was a winner).




The quilt behind Vic is called Smokey River and is made using Stonehenge fabrics. Mine is sitting in the closet just waiting for me to take it out and put it together.

This was one I fell in love with. Vic showed a photo of this panel in the center of a quilt and the companion fabrics around it to make up the quilt. Just beautiful.




We were able to see about 20 different lines of fabrics and vote on them. Some of these lines have up to three different color ways. They were all beautiful. Oh to have that much money to just buy fabrics.....My Wish!!!

Brenda on the left, Denise in the middle, Jeannie on the right. Notice the name tags. This was what Jeremy made for everyone. There were over 60 people there.

Notice the banner over the top of the door. The doorway had black curtains (like a theater) We all had to stay on this side of the curtains until the big event started.

Becky and her daughter (so sorry, can't remember her daughters name. Look at those smiles. By the end of the day those smiles were still there. A little more tired but still smiling.

Greg was the photographer for the day. Had to get his photo so he would not be left out.

In the classroom there was 60 some odd chairs set up. I quit counting at 60. Here are some of the ladies in attendance.

Here are some of the prizes. Everyone went home with a prize.

Carol, our last prize winner received a big bundle of Stonehenge fat quarters.

All in all it was a wonderful day. I got to visit was ladies I had not seen in awhile (Both Linda B and Linda M, Faye, Kristen from Bakersfield, and too many others.)

After shopping we left to go to lunch at Alahandros. The five of us had a great lunch and it finished of the day very nicely.

Charity Sew

Yesterday was charity sew day at Quilters Quarters for the Guild. (Common Threads). It was a great day and a lot was accompolished. I did get one quilt quilted. Have to get the binding on it and then it will be completed. Thanks Mary Jane and Bernita for pinning the other two quilts for me. Now to get them quilted. Mary Ann, thanks for cutting the 13" x 11-1/4" blocks for me. I will be making the pattern so we can have another easy different pattern to make quilts out of. I saw it in a magazine and it looked cute. Can't wait to give it a spin. Diane and Maxine, you two work so well together. I still can't do what Diane did and spread out in the floor to piece backs. I would never be able to get up again. It was a great day. Hopefully I will have some photos of quilts to show you soon. Happy Quilting, Paula

Today Was High Tea Day

Today our friendship group got together to sew.

We wanted to do something a little different for lunch so we decided to have a HIGH TEA!

Onto the net to find out what is served at High Tea besides tea.

We had three different types of finger sandwiches plus deserts. Oh My!!!

What a wonderful time we had. If you notice on the table we also have three tea pots. They were all full of different types of teas.

Of course we had to sample each one.



I don't know about everyone else but I had a wonderful time. We tasted and laughed and ate and giggled and ate and, and, and.
