Shopping at Thimble towne

What happens when Thimble Towne has a sale?  We all run to get in line first.

Caught the big guy moving furniture again

What happens when you need to get checked out and you still can't decide on that last fabric?

If you know this special lady, Tell her I said HI!
Barbara cut all my fabric just the way I wanted!  She is so sweet.

My goodness, what is he doing to Thimbalina?

HUM!!! Let measure this just right!

The newest model of the day

Anyway.  We all had a great time on  Thursday just shopping and cutting up and having fun.  You had to have been there.

I over spent so don't tell my hubby. LOL!

Charity Quilt

I belong to two quilt guilds and make charity quilts for both guilds.  They go to different places in different county's.  It is my way of giving back to the community.

This is a fast and easy quilt to put together and I did a quick stipple quilt in the middle and a fast plain feather in the border.

My hope is that more people become involved in making charity quilts.  They are very much needed.

Kristina's Quilt

My Granddaughter Kristina made this black white and red quilt then asked me to quilt it for her.  Well, I did this one a bit different.  In the four patches and the large square I did a large flower.  The black polka dot has a feather stitch and the border squares had small flowers.
Each of those border blocks have one flower in each block.  That was a lot of little flowers.  It was a challenge but I finished it and she will be happy to have it for her bed.

Heart Twister

Yesterday you saw a twister quilt that I started on Retreat.  Well, this heart quilt I cut out at retreat then finished here at home.  I finished quilting it yesterday.
The fabrics I purchased at Thimble Towne.  I was looking for apricot colors as I plan on hanging it in my bathroom which my hubby just painted apricot.  You all know how I love Batiks and Stonehenge.  This wall hanging has both in it.

Twister

A couple of weeks ago Diane Holmes brought this little ruler (twister) and made a wall hanging using this little ruler.  First off, you sew all your blocks and the first border then, you cut it apart to make these little pin wheels.  So much fun.
Well, after watching her I had to give it a try.  All I can say is it is addicting.  Here is my first wall hanging done in the twister style.  The material was purchased while I was on retreat.  We went to visit the quilt store in Orcutt (Old Town Quilt Shop).  I love that quaint store.  When you first walk in you think it is so tiny but then you see the opening the the back of the store.  It is quite large.  Lots of Batiks lots of packages of strips, 5" blocks etc.

Not Quilting Related

Last night my hubby and myself had the pleasure of watching our Granddaughter's choral performance.  I spent the day hemming her dress.  What a challenge.  It was crape with a taffeta underlay.  I had never worked with either material before.

Here are the girls.

Here are the boys.

This is Victoria.  We were not sure she would make it as she was sick, running a temp and was on medication from her Dr's visit that afternoon.  She said the show must go on and she wanted to be there.

Here are the girls waiting for there cue.

I was really proud of her since it is her first year in Choral.

Sorry the photos are not that good.  I was way in the back of the room and had to zoom in.  The lighting was not that good on stage but.....they photos will have to do.

They had one little gal last night that did a solo that was outstanding.  She should have a record contract she was that good.  I was so in awe I did not even remember to take her photo.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me show off part of my family life.

Happy quilting, Paula

Kay's Wall hanging

We we got home from retreat I had a Wall hanging to get quilted for Kay.  She had made this Christmas Wall Hanging and had started to quilt it with stitch in the ditch.  I told her that I would finish it for her.  The photos show you what I quilted where.

This first photo is actually the border of the quilt and I just did a red feather stitch.

This next photo is for the petals themselves.  I used a green variegated thread.

This photo is of the stippling.  The marks on the quilt that are straight are the original stitch in the ditch over top of a blue line that should come out once hit with a damp cloth. (Hopefully)

Here is the center of the top.  The center flower is just outlined in red thread

This is what the wall hanging looks like.  All Kay has to do is put the binding on and it is completed.  I did have a bit of fun with his wall hanging and I hope she likes it.

More Retreat Photos

Thought you all would like to see some more show and tell plus a bit more retreat.

Here is a table runner that Kay made.

Janice Minyard stopped by with show and tell.  The quilting on this quilt was just beautiful.  Wish you could have seen this in real life and not just this photo.  Oh Wow is all I can say!

This is a Halloween panel she made.  Such a fun quilt.
This beauty is Carolyn's, Love the bright colors.

This is Diane's

This will give you a perspective of the size of Diane's.  It is about 8" total

What happens when the M & M peanuts are spilled all over the floor.

I can't say enough about this table runner that Juanita started.  Just beautiful.  These flowers have 100's of little petals.

Jeannie's twists

 The start of another twist.

Juanita's (can't remember what she called it.) But it is a Ricky Tims pattern.

A few more shots. Here is Diane

 Here is Juanita

if you have never had punch bowl cake you should try it.  We eat it all week long for desert.  It is made with chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, whipping cream, herseys syurp, and candy bars.  All layered together.  Decadent can't really describe it.

Oh, I forgot to tell you we had it with Kaluha

 Too Good.

More show and tell.  This is Marcella's

 This is Brenda's

Well, That is all for now.  Thanks for dropping by.  Happy Quilting, Paula
